The Ibex Tactix is an innovative approach to equipment built to move easily, deploy tactically, and perform under pressure in unique, adventurous situations.
Traditional ski equipment poses many limitations for easy transportation and tactical applications during adventures in the mountains. In order to improve the transport of skis across snow, rocks and other mixed terrain, Elan created a foldable ski with high-end ski performance and zero limitations of movement. It easily attaches to a pack quickly and securely.
To achieve this design feat, Elan took the Ibex skis, cut them in half and connected them with a revolutionary folding mechanism that is built on a fixed aluminum plate that rotates 180 degrees and disassembles a 163cm length ski to a 90cm length ski in less than 20 seconds for easy transport. Furthermore, the performance benefits of the plate make the skis easier and more reliable to ski.
Traditional skis strapped to a backpack have a tendency to snag on rocks and roots, and even the slope itself can be a hindrance. Folding skis immediately resolve all these issues. Aside from total freedom of movement, folding skis perform exceptionally well on piste. The base plate under the boot is a particularly well thought out addition and provides the right amount of torsion and stiffness. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency, performance and safety of these skis.

Mountain Rocker Profile
Mountain Rocker profile incorprates moderate tip and tail rocker for better flotation, easier turn initiation and versatility in varied snow conditions. Combined with a moderate amount of camber underfoot, Mountain Rocker also delivers great precision and stability on groomed slopes.
To create the TubeLite Woodcore, two super lightweight Carbon tubes are inserted into a lightweight laminated wood core. These tubes run the length of the ski following the arc of the side cut. They provide torsional stability and powerful rebound while allowing for material reduction of the core. The result is incredible lightweight response and stability.

Fiberglass reinforcement optimizes the flex pattern and enhances torsional rigidity of the ski. The fiberglass is positioned either above or below the ski core and improves a skis structual integrity.
