Elan, a leading manufacturer of skis, sports equipment, boats and technologically advanced composites, has been donating skis to Slovenian primary schools for the past 10 years. “We have been helping schools organize sports days on snow. This is one of the many activities we pursue to bring skiing as a sport and free time activity closer to kids,” said Rebeka Lah, Elan Brand Deployment Manager and head of the Alpine Skiing Museum.

After closing the call for applications for this winter, the company delivered a total of 15 sets of skis, 10 to the Šmarjeta primary school from Šmarješke Toplice and 5 to the Rihard Jakopič primary school from Ljubljana. The kids’ skis are based on Elan’s U-Flex technology that was developed especially for children to help make their first turns even easier. “We again wish to thank all the schools that sent in an application. The response surpassed all of our expectations, we received applications from 118 primary schools”, added Rebeka Lah.

At the end of September Elan already delivered several pairs of kids’ skis to the Vitanje primary school as part of a running-focused sports day held at the school.

“The project of donating kids’ skis is reflects our mission as we firmly believe everybody can have a great skiing experience and that there is nothing better than spending time in the snow covered mountains with friends and family. We want to enable kids to enjoy the full skiing experience and promote active spending of free time among children and adults. We want them to experience skiing as a fun sport. Cooperation with the local environment is also a part of our commitment to social responsibility, something that is especially important for a global company such as Elan,” added Elan’s Brand Deployment Manager and head of the Alpine Skiing Museum.
