We Create skis with people who inspire, is an annual project in which Elan works with a unique person to create a ski with Elan DNA that helps tell a story. This year, Lauren Salko, a Park City, UT based ski cross racer and Elan ambassador has developed a custom, limited edition Elan Ripstick 94 W. As an athlete living with Type 1 diabetes, Lauren is committed to showing others that T1D isn't something that should hold them back and her ski is a symbol of this message. But that's not all...
Together with Lauren, we're donating all of the profit of each pair of her custom skis sold, to the Ohio based 501(c)(3) non-profit Children with Diabetes organization. Say what?!
Yes, you read that correctly. But let's start at the beginning, shall we?
Lauren is a professional skier with her eyes on the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in China. Additionally, she attends many engagements advocating and speaking about her life as an athlete and person with type 1 diabetes (T1D). She shares a message of hope and determination as well as her own personal insight about thriving with diabetes. As serious as type 1 diabetes (T1D) is, Lauren's life is filled with joy and adventure and that's what she wanted to potray on her limited edition Ripstick 94 W ski.
RIPSTICK 94 W
All profits from the sale of the Lauren Salko Ripstick 94 W and Instagram donation feature totaling $3,329.84 were donated by Elan USA Corp. to Children with Diabetes, a 501 ©(3) nonprofit organization.
The chemical composition of insulin is the design element that connects the different facets of her life; from Silas, her best friend and diabetic alert dog who is there each step of the way, to her city roots, and mountain life. The result is the ultimate all-mountain ski with a one of a kind graphic, that delivers a message, never seen before in the mountains.
make a donation!
Lauren and Elan want to share the importance of leading a positive and healthy lifestyle that empowers families and children living with T1D. That is why Lauren chose the Children with Diabetes organization as the beneficiary of this project, making sure that 100% of the profit of each of her skis sold goes to good use. Even if you don't ski, or don't need a new pair, you can still make an impact on improving the life of others by donating to Children with Diabetes. Every bit counts!
